Is Fast Affordable College Student Movers actually licensed?
Yes. We're a Louisiana-licensed household goods carrier with DOT and MC authority on file, and our trucks carry $1M in cargo coverage. We're a real local moving company with our own trucks and our own crew, not a service that hands your job off to someone else.
How does pricing work for a small dorm or apartment move?
Most dorm and small apartment moves are priced hourly, which keeps the cost proportional to what you're actually moving. Tell Desiree your load size when you request a quote and she'll give you a realistic range before you book.
Do you require a deposit to book?
For most local moves, no deposit is required. Larger jobs and long-distance moves to places like Houston or Atlanta may require a deposit to hold your date, which our office will confirm when you book.
What's included in the price of a move?
Standard local moves include the crew, the truck, furniture pads, and basic disassembly/reassembly of common items like beds and desks. Full packing, piano handling, and safe moving are quoted separately since they take extra crew time and equipment.
Can I cancel or reschedule if my move-out date changes?
Yes, just give us as much notice as you can. During peak weeks around finals and move-in, truck availability gets tight fast, so calling early gives us the best shot at holding a spot that works for your new date.
What's different about your long-distance moves?
We run set corridors — Houston, Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, and Dallas — regularly enough that Jamal and his crew know realistic timing and can sometimes combine loads to save you money.
Do you offer storage between semesters?
Yes, our summer storage option is built for students who don't want to haul everything home and back for a three-month break. Boxes go in, get logged, and come back out when fall move-in starts.
Can roommates split one move and one bill?
Absolutely, and it's one of the most common bookings we get. Just let Desiree know upfront how many rooms or loads are involved so she can quote the right crew size and, if you want, split the invoice.
What happens on dorm move-in and move-out day?
Our crews work around Tulane, Loyola, and UNO's actual move-in and move-out schedules, including permit parking near campus and the narrow streets around Uptown and Freret. Katie Sonnier leads most of our dorm and apartment crews during those peak weeks.
What if something gets damaged during my move?
Report it to our office as soon as you notice it. We'll walk you through the claims process based on the valuation coverage selected at booking, and because we're insured and use our own crew, there's no third-party carrier to chase down.
