Houston is one of the most requested long-distance lanes our crew runs. It’s roughly 350 miles west on I-10, and for a single-room or studio load our truck can leave Uptown in the morning and have your things off the truck in Houston the same evening. Bigger households usually get a set morning pickup with a same-day delivery window, no overnight layover needed. There’s no hand-off at the Texas line — the same crew that loads your boxes on Freret St drives the truck and carries them into your new place.
A large share of our Houston bookings are Tulane, Loyola, UNO, and Xavier students heading home to the Houston metro, alongside plenty of Baton Rouge-to-Houston-corridor households doing a straight relocation. We also run smaller one-item jobs on this lane moving a piano or safe back to a family home when a student’s lease ends. Whatever the load size, it’s one moving company, one truck, start to finish.
Cost on the Houston route comes down to three things: how much you’re moving, how many people it takes to carry it, and whether you need packing services on top of the drive. A dorm room with a futon and a few boxes is a very different job than a three-bedroom house, and we price it that way rather than a flat per-mile rate. Fuel and drive time matter less here than they do on our longer lanes, since Houston is close enough to run in a single day.

I always tell students: label your boxes by room, even for a short trip like this one, because it saves us — and you — time on the Houston end.”
Late April through mid-May is our busiest stretch on this lane as the spring semester wraps up, and we see a smaller second wave in August when students head back with more belongings than they left with.
